About this landmark

Shkopet lake

Lake Shkopet was created as a result of the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the Mati Gorge. It is known for its deep and calm waters, which are surrounded by steep rocky slopes that create a very special view. The gorge around the lake is a natural attraction in itself, with interesting geological formations and a wide biodiversity. The lake is used as a destination for fishing, kayaking and canyon exploration. In some parts of it there are panoramic points from where visitors can observe birds or simply enjoy the landscape that changes with the seasons.
