About this landmark

Old Town Pset

Old Town Pset is one of the most interesting medieval fortresses in Bosanska Krajina, located on a hill above the Krupa River. Over the centuries, it played an important role in controlling trade routes and defending this area, and today its ruins bear witness to a rich and turbulent past.

Although the exact period of its origin has not been precisely determined, it is assumed that the town developed in the Middle Ages. Due to the lack of written sources, much of its history is shrouded in legend. According to local tradition, Pset was built by a girl named Krupana, while neighboring fortresses were raised by other legendary heroines, giving this site a special mystical dimension.

The remains of the ramparts, towers, and former buildings provide an authentic insight into medieval life. A walk through this area takes visitors back in time, with the feeling that every stone carries its own story. In addition to its historical value, Pset also offers impressive views of the surrounding valleys, forests, and mountains, making it an ideal place for photography and enjoying nature.

Today, Old Town Pset is an attractive destination for lovers of history, nature, and exploration, as well as a place that occasionally comes alive through cultural events. This is a place where legend, the past, and natural beauty meet – an authentic Bosanska Krajina experience.
